The Mavis Little Artist of the Year Award is named in memory of Mavis Little, mother of Paul, Lindy and David. Mavis had a love of art and was actively involved at the Victorian Artists Society for over twenty-five years.
Over the years Mavis Little worked tirelessly at Vic Arts on a voluntary basis, gaining much respect from the artists and her fellow workers, often being requested by individual artists to work on their particular exhibitions.
In particular Mavis’ love of emerging Australian female painters has continued through the generations and as a result we have nominated one granddaughter from each of the three families to be part of the awarding of the prize. Prue Little, Hannah Little and Katie Palmer are all honoured to represent their grandmother and continue her legacy at this institution that was so dear to her heart.
