New $10m vessel launched for Port Phillip Ferries

A new Port Phillip Ferries vessel with a cafe, bike storage and free Wi-Fi has been unveiled by prominent Melbourne businessman Paul Little AO.

The $10 million Bellarine Express was completed by Incat in Hobart and was officially launched and christened by Governor Linda Dessau in Melbourne’s Docklands.

The 35m-long catamaran will operate multiple services daily between Portarlington and Docklands from next year.

The vessel can comfortably carry 405 passengers and Mr Little anticipates that the licensed cafe and bicycle racks will attract more commuters and tourists.

“When customers experience the ease and pleasure of ferry transport, I am sure demand for it will increase,” he said.

Mr Little also added that the new vessel will provide a smoother and more comfortable journey for passengers.
