Little Group has announced the launch of a new ferry service which will be trialled across Melbourne's Port Phillip Bay to test whether there is demand for the commuter service.
A daily service covering the 31km from Wyndham Harbour in Werribee South to Victoria Harbour in Melbourne's Docklands will be launched.
Initially, the 400-seat, 35-metre EnviroCat ferry will be leased from Sealink but Port Phillip Ferries has plans to expand its fleet with state-of-the-art vessels as demand for the service is established.
The ferry service will provide an entirely new experience for commuters – delivering a reliable and enjoyable travel alternative.
"These are people who want certainty in their timetable. They’re people who want to be able to relax, read the paper, watch the news, use the Wi-Fi on board, have a coffee and basically get here by sea. It's an entirely different offering," Chairman Paul Little said.
